“Coke” Chunhawat – Muay Thai Instructor

Sugar Cane "Coke" Chunhawat, simply known as "Coke," grew up in Ratchaburi, a small town outside of Bangkok, Thailand.  At the age of 11, Coke fought for the first time without any formal training and won. He continued to fight and train in the makeshift gym local to the temple where he grew up and by the age of 13, while working in Bangkok, he was invited to train at Fairtex Bangplee. Thus began the start of his long and successful career as a professional fighter under the Fairtex camp.

What was once a mode of survival, became a passion and a way of life. Coke has over 200 professional fights under his belt and currently holds the WMC World Title and the WBC National Title at 135lbs. He was a number 2 ranked contender at Lumpinee Stadium and has fought many high caliber fighters, one being the well renowned Buakaw Por Pramuk, in which they are split 1-1 with one another.

In 2004, Coke visited the United States for the first time. Upon his arrival in San Francisco, Coke immediately began to train at the Fairtex camp with his trainer and long time friend, Jongsanan "the Woodenman", and teach with fellow trainers Bunkerd, Ganyao, Ehn, and Neungsiam (all formerly Fairtex).Coke returned to Thailand to continue fighting in his homeland and eventually made it back to the States in 2007. He became a head trainer at Pacific Ring Sports in Oakland, California and made that his home for the past four years.

With nearly two decades of professionally fighting, Coke is still as strong and as active as ever. He successfully defended his WBC title at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas on November 19th, 2011, and is hoping within the next year for the opportunity to fight for one of the biggest achievements in Muay Thai, the WBC World title.
