Sayif began training in martial arts at the age of three. His training began at his father’s dojo in judo and karate. Sayif first focused on Judo, winning two state titles and receiving his black belt. He then switched focus to Karate winning four national championships. He studied Shorin-Ryu karate and went on to win four national titles in the sport. He received his black belt in 1997 from the United Karate-do Kai. Shortly after, bodybuilding and academics became Sayif’s focus. Sayif graduated from Indiana University-Bloomington in Political Science, then furthered his education by attending law school at Indiana University-Indianapolis.
Sayif’s passion and experience brought him back to martial arts. He studied with Greg Jackson in Albuquerque, NM from 2006-2009. He was also coached by Mike Van Arsdale in wrestling. He has won several grappling tournaments including Best of the West, American Championships, and won Silver at Grapplers Quest. He is also undefeated as a professional MMA fighter at 3-0.
