our facility

What amenities are available for use?

We have men and women’s locker rooms with showers, shampoos, lotions, hair dryers, etc. Lockers are available for use at no additional cost. If you wish to rent a locker during your training session, trade your ID or car keys for a locker key. We also have a cage for MMA, cardio equipment, and a free-weight area available for use any time the gym is open.

How do I get started?

First step is to create a profile. Then take a look at the schedule and determine which class you would like to try first. Come in 15 minutes before class, and let the Front Desk know you’re ready to start training. We will give you a tour and provide you with any gear you need.

Am I able to try a class before I join?

Absolutely! You can try each of our classes one time to see if Octagon MMA is the right place for you. Simply create a profile, pick a class, and arrive 15 minutes before class to get checked in at the Front Desk.

Do I need to register for a class?

If you are trying a class for the very first time, you will need to create a profile on our website, but you do not need to register for the class itself.

Can I attend more than one class?

Yes! We offer one full-week trial period so that you can get a feel for each of our classes.

Do I have to sign a contract?

You don’t have to sign a contract, just a waiver acknowledging you are of sound mind and body. All of our membership options are month-to-month, and you can stop at any time, by letting one of our front desk members know.

Why is there an enrollment fee?

Because our membership plans are month-to-month, members do not sign a contract. Enrollment fees cover the administration process of setting-up and managing each member in our system.

What types of memberships do you have?

We have 4 main membership types, depending on your training goals and interests. Our All Access membership includes BJJ, MMA, Kickboxing & Muay Thai, Core Fit and Yoga. We also have a Beginner All Access membership option for people new to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, at a discounted rate. For people more interested in developing their stand-up skills, we have a Cardio Kickboxing membership which includes Kickboxing & Muay Thai, Core Fitness, and Yoga. For the little ones, we have a Kids BJJ membership plan.

If you are interested in intermittent training, or only stopping by we have a Once-a-Week or Weekly Pass membership option. And if you’re just stopping by for the day, our Day Pass is just $30.

our classes

What kind of classes do you offer?

As a mixed martial arts gym, we offer both striking and grappling classes, with some fitness classes for flexibility, strength, and wellness. Currently, our classes are Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, MMA and yoga. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced martial artist, we have the class for you.

What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)?

BJJ is a style of martial art that centers around submission grappling. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu combines original Japanese Jiu-Jitsu theories with a combat mentality, producing a sport unlike any other. Our BJJ classes involve basic movements and concepts, positional skill development, and live rolling. You are not required to participate in the live rolling part of class, but as we say in Jiu-Jitsu, “If you don’t roll, you don’t know.”

What is Kickboxing/Muay Thai?

Kickboxing and Muay Thai are stand-up, or striking, martial arts that play with the concept of space between you and your opponent. Our striking classes vary in intensity for all skill levels. From Cardio Kickboxing to Muay Thai sparring, our stand-up classes will help you develop your skills and discipline.

What do I wear?

Our classes will make you sweat! Bring comfortable clothing that allow for movement, and plenty of it. If you are participating in BJJ, most days you will need a Gi (you can rent or purchase one of ours if you don’t have your own). If you are participating in Kickboxing or Muay Thai, you will need handwraps and 16oz boxing gloves (you can purchase a pair from us, or borrow some!).

Protective gear is required for sparring classes. Shin guards and headgear may be purchased at the gym (from Revgear). A mouthguard is strongly recommended for all classes.

How do I fix my hair?

If you have long hair, it’s best kept in a ponytail or braid. You may also wrap your hair, as long as the wrap will not interfere with your ability to move, or your training partner’s ability to move. Hair wraps we suggest: a Buff® or Loc Soc® if you have dreads or hair requiring a gentle, but stable, hold; athletic or sport hijab; or pre-wrap, which is the softer medical wrap.

other questions

My schedule is unconventional and/or I travel a lot for work. Can I still train?

We offer classes as early as 6:00 A.M. and as late as 7:00 P.M., most days, and our facilities are available for use at any time the gym is open. We have different membership options that accommodate the needs of our members as well.

Am I too young/old to train?

Rome wasn’t built in a day. The same goes for black belts. BJJ is a lifelong sport. We offer classes for kids and adults. Check out the schedule to find the right class for you!

Do you offer any membership discounts?

We do! Membership discounts are available for Students, Medical Staff, Police, Firefighters, Military Servicemen, and people in the service industry.
